MAKE YOUR OWN LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Making your own laundry detergent is fast, inexpensive and easy. You can save so much money doing it yourself. There are a few ways to make powder detergent and liquid detergent, but powder detergent is definitely easier. There are only three ingredients and they should cost you less than five dollars. Your homemade laundry soap should last you for a month or two, depending on how much laundry your family goes through.
Homemade Laundry Soap! Cheap, Easy and Effective
-1 Bar of Soap
You can use laundry bar soap if you find it at your local grocery store. Some people use all natural bar soap of any brand, but any bar soap will work. You will need a standard bar of soap, which is usually 4.5 ounces. Grate the soap with a cheese grater into a bowl.
-1 Cup of Borax
Borax is sodium borate. It is a common household cleaner and is easy to find. It is all natural and is not harmful to the environment.
-1 Cup of Washing Soda
Washing soda is great at removing stubborn stains. Don't confuse it with washing powder, which is a soap. You can usually find washing soda as a laundry booster on the laundry detergent aisle of your grocery store. Washing soda treats hard water by binding to the minerals that makes it hard water. It also creates the right amount of foam so that clothes rinse clean.
Simply mix these three ingredients together and you have a super cheap, yet powerful, laundry detergent. You only need one tablespoon per load. If the clothes are heavily stained you can use up to two tablespoons per load.
